# 101  Weaving on a Rigid Heddle Loom          Joan Hoover  CLASS  FULL

This simple loom is a great introduction to weaving. If you’ve always been curious about weaving, the rigid heddle is a great place to start. Learn to plan a project, measure the yarn, dress the loom and weave. By the end of the day you will weave a summer scarf and have the confidence to weave a project of your own. No prior experience required. (NOTE: You could take this class the first day and the Intermediate class the next day.)

Class Level: Beginner

Class Limit: 16

Material Fees: $30.00  for handouts and yarn for scarf project.

Participants should bring: Rigid heddle Loom at least 12” wide with 8 dent reed, warping peg and clamps, 9 to 12” stick shuttle.

 

# 102 Beginning Spinning                                     Amy Tyler

 In this course, participants will be introduced to the craft of spinning yarn.  Participants will be instructed in the basic use of a spinning wheel to create 2-ply yarns.  Creation of “singles” from wool roving will be practiced.  Participants will practice plying a 2-ply yarn.  Participants will leave with a completed skein of their own handspun yarn.

Class Level:  no experience to beginning

Class Limit:  10

Material fees for class:  $12.00~ Fee covers  fibers for spinning & handouts.

Participants should bring:  a spinning wheel in good working order, 3 bobbins, and a lazy kate

 

# 103 One Needle Two Socks                     Susan Kawamoto

In this class students will make 2 socks on one long needle. This eliminates the possibility of the two socks being different lengths and once the two socks are done – they are ready to wear. A top down technique will be learned and for this sock, a small child’s pair will be made with instructions that can also be made for an adult. A simple lace leg will add variety to the socks for an enjoyable technique

Class Level: Intermediate

Class Limit: 15

Material Fees: There is a materials fee of $2.00 for printed material for the class. An OPTIONAL materials fee of $5.00 for enough yardage of a 100% superwash wool in worsted weight to complete the child socks will be available.

Participants should bring: Size 5 40” circular needle. Two skeins of light colored, smooth yarn in worsted weight.
