#421 Wild Carding Getting Creative with your Woolen Prep

In this class we card batts and rolags, using drum carders and blending boards! We’ll look at layering and blending colors. We'll talk about the function of drum carders and how to create texture, while still maintaining the well-being of the machine. We’ll figure out how to card batts to produce specific kinds of yarns, as well as layering texture. Students will learn how to diz roving from a drum carder and blending board. Students should bring any fibers they’d like to card or comb. Multiple types of drum carders and blending boards will be provided for students to use.
Class Limit: 18 Class Level: All levels

Participants Should Bring: No particular skills are needed if student just wants to learn to card batts and rolags, however spinning or felting knowledge is encouraged. Included Materials are:fiber for carding. Students should bring any fibers they’d like to card and are encouraged to bring a drum carder and/or blending board if they own one! (Students can bring a wheel if they’d like to try spinning their prep right away, however spinning techniques will not be taught)
