Barb Gallagher, instructor
Students have a choice of weaving on a 4 shaft, 8 shaft or rigid heddle loom.
I would appreciate if you would let me know which type of loom you’ll be using; i.e., 4 shaft, 8 shaft or rigid heddle– send an email to barb@weaversloft.com
For SHAFT LOOMS:
If you are weaving on a shaft loom, you will need to have your loom warped, threaded and ready to weave before class. Both 4 shaft and 8 shaft gamp threading drafts with tie-ups are included. You choose how long of a warp to put on your loom – but at least 2.5 – 3 yards.
You do NOT need to use the same colors shown on the threadings – choose your own light/dark colors or use white or black for one of the colors –
You do NOT have to use all of the threadings shown. Both have 4 different threadings indicated by the 4 different colors. This is a gamp, so the more you do, the more fun you’ll have weaving!– but you can thread just one of the threadings if you want.
Suggested yarns and setts:
10/2 cotton @ 24 epi
8/2 cotton or tencel @ 20 epi
5/2 cotton @ 15 epi
3/2 cotton @ 12 epi
8/4 cotton @ 10 epi
FOR RIGID HEDDLE LOOMS
You will set up your loom in class! Bring assembled loom (of course), warping supplies; i.e. warping peg and large C clamp, threading tool, and paper to wind on with. Suggested yarn is 8/4 cotton which will use your 10 dent reed. Other options are above. You need 2 different colors – high contrast – one light and one dark.
