#207 Carding, Long Draw & Woolen Spinning by Patsy Zawistoski, Thursday 9 am to 4 pm
Experience: Able to spin and ply, ready to learn carding and long draw
Workshop Description: Do you wonder about the soft fuzzy yarns other spinners create? Or how to really learn the quick and efficient long draw? Those spinners know the ease of allowing the twist to draft their yarns. In this class we start with clean fleece and practice carding light airy rolags. Then I’ll teach you step by step how to practice toward the long draw. First, you’ll learn the open draft. Next, you’ll learn to move your hands further apart and soon you’ll be spinning your own soft fuzzy yarns with an open extended long draw.
Participants should bring: A good working wheel, (scotch tension or bobbin lead recommended), lazy kate and extra bobbins, hand cards, small bags and note cards, scissors, hole punch for attaching sample yarns and fibers, and a small hand towel. Also bring oil, screwdriver, and other tools for your wheel, in case they are needed. Ball winder and mini-niddy-noddy optional.
Material Fee: $20 Booklets, worksheets, scoured fleece
Class Limit: 12
