#320 Knitting Silk by Kitty Bryan, Friday 9 am to noon
Workshop Description: Learn to Knit Silk Successfully! Have you ever been tempted to purchase a beautiful skein of silk, but wondered what you would knit; how you would care for it; why this fine, strong, soft, lustrous fiber has been prized for centuries; and, why wool knitting techniques do not work? This class is designed to expand your fiber experience. Students will use a workbook to explore silk: it’s history, behavior , varieties, characteristics, blends, and production. Class activities include knitting “successful and set-to-fail” samples, critiquing published patterns, and discussing considerations in purchasing silk fiber and yarn.
Participants should bring: Pencil, sharp scissors, US 6 or 7 (4.0 mm or 4.5 mm) wooden circular needle with 24 in cord, wound fingering 100% silk yarn.
Material Fee: $10 Knitting Silk Workbook & Fenelon Falls pattern
