#333 Thick and Quick, Stash Reducing & Sandwich Spinning by Patsy Zawistoski, Friday 1 pm to 4 pm
Experience: Able to spin and ply, ready to increase your yarn size
Workshop Description: Charming, thick, soft, textured yarns make quick projects. Drop the idea that thick yarns are harder to spin as you gain experience. A few easy techniques and some intentional practice will have you spinning thicker yarns. Bring your spinning wheel with the largest orifice to improve your techniques. We’ll practice with blending boards and drum carders, both excellent preparation tools. We’ll also reduce your fiber stash. Bring about 2 ounces of any fiber from your stash, we’ll make a sharable fiber sandwich.
Participants should bring: A good working wheel with a large orifice and the slowest speed, 2 oz. fiber to share, hand cards and/or blending board, scissors, hole punch for attaching sample yarns and fibers, small bags, note cards, and a small hand towel. Also bring oil, screwdriver, and other tools for your wheel.
