#420 Knitting with Variegated Yarn by Kitty Bryan, Saturday 9am to noon
Experience: Beginner to Experienced
Workshop Description: Do you avoid variegated yarn because you do not know what to do with it? Learn to amplify the beauty of hand-dyed yarn by choosing projects that flatter your skein. Variegated yarns are dyed in one of six distinct patterns. The Gestalt effect provides rules for knitting these yarn patterns into appealing fabrics. Using a workbook, the Gestalt effect is explored for yarn purchase, dye pattern analysis, and project selection. Students analyze a broad range of variegated skeins, successful designs, and failed experiments to identify stitches and projects most suited to the unique characteristics of the yarn.
Participants should bring: Two skeins of variegated yarn (no cakes) and a pencil
