Workshop Description: Want to knit socks or other items with a secret message? The fun is in designing your yarn blank and then seeing what it becomes when knitted.  I love making dyed sock blanks.  We will be dyeing superwash sock weight yarn in this class.  You will learn how to mix dyes, how to apply dyes and most important safety while dyeing yarn.  When you dye a sock blank, the finished item can look different than when you expected.  You will learn how to use a microwave to dye the sock blanks.  This class is fun and it is even a crafting project you can do with friends and family on your own.  The instructor will also discuss using a pot to dye sock blanks and how to dye sock blanks in different ways. 

Students should bring:  Pencil and an older towel.  Wear clothing that is ok to get wet and comfortable shoes as we will be on our feet for some of the class.

Material Fee:  $25  Includes: 100 g skein of superwash sock weight yarn, knitted into a sock blank;  small notebooks so students can start their own dye journal; and a number of different color dyes and all dyeing supplies needed for this class.  Additional sock blanks will be available to purchase ($20 per blank).
