#106 Tom Knisely-Doubling Down on Doubleweaving  THREE DAYSi  9am-4pm  Bldg 9 Center  $300

Skill level:  Intermediate

Workshop Description: There are several different ways to weave doubleweave. This class focuses on doubleweave for weaving double width and weaving tubes of fabric.

Imagine being able to weave a blanket or throw on a narrow loom. You are able to weave two separate layers of fabric that are joined on one side that becomes the center of the throw. When you are finished weaving and remove the piece from your loom, you can open the throw to a fabric that is twice the width of the warp on the loom. Now how cool is that??

On the same warp you can weave two separate layers that are joined on BOTH selvedge sides and this produces a woven tube. Round and round the shuttle goes, weaving a perfect tubular fabric.

For this workshop you’ll be weaving on a pre-warped loom. The instructions for warping will be emailed to you prior to class. You will be weaving TWO projects on the same warp. First, a dish towel or bread cloth that will show you the basic fundamentals of weaving double width fabric. Then for the second project, you will weave a bread bag. It will have a closed bottom and a tubular fabric for the body of the bag. Then, at the top of the bag, you’ll learn how to make 2 separate woven tabs that make a hem that’s ready for a drawstring closure.

I’ll even share my favorite bread recipe so you can bake a loaf for your new bread bag.

Students should bring: - A warped *at least 4 harness) loom threaded to instructions that will be emailed to the student prior to class. Minimum weaving width, 14 inches
