Workshop Description: Are you new to fiber processing or wanting to learn how to start from the beginning? If so, this is the perfect class for you! During this class we'll cover the basic types of wool and best preparation practices including skirting, picking, washing, carding, and combing. There will be plenty of time for questions and for those who have experience and would like, you'll have the opportunity to spin some of the fiber as well. In the morning we'll go over types of wool and washing of fiber, and in the afternoon, process it for spinning. Also provided as part of materials will be a resource binder with information on wool, processing equipment, best practices, tips, tricks, and other helpful information.

Students should bring: Come prepared to get a little dirty and have a lot of fun! Students can bring fiber from home they would like to learn to process or processing tools they would like to learn to use. They will have an opportunity to process and use these tools in class, but neither is required.

Material Fee $25 Covers: Materials include 2 ounces raw fiber, 1-ounce washed fiber, wash tub, 4oz bottle Unicorn Power Scour, gloves, mesh bag for washing, line and pin to dry, and a helpful resource guide with information, handouts, tips and tricks for processing fleece. Students will have access to fiber processing tools including hand cards, drum carder, combs, and other supplies during class. .
