Workshop Description:  Kitchen dyeing explores the many possibilities of creating color with food waste and common kitchen items. We’ll be discussing the art and science behind achieving natural colors from onion skins, avocado pits, tea, pomegranates and turmeric. Come prepared to learn how to set up natural dye pots and dye with four kitchen materials and then shift the colors with an iron modifier. Our dye study will lead to seven different colors on 3 different materials for a total of 21 samples. This workshop will cover safety/clean up procedures and how to prepare samples and materials for dyeing.

Participants should bring:  Clothes to get messy in
