Workshop Description: Learn basic dyeing techniques! We will be covering a variety of processes including Shibori, eco dyeing, mordant + immersion dyeing using natural dyes, multi-color/speckled and Kool-Aid. We will be dyeing wool comb top, raw silk woven fabric, and both wool and cotton yarns. Course materials fees are not included in the registration and should be paid directly to the instructor just prior to the start of class.
All yarn, fabric, dye, and foliage will be provided. Printed instructions will be provided to each student.
Students should bring: (1) 20 - 32 Qt. large stainless-steel pot, measuring spoons, (1) 2 cup liquid measuring cup, (1) 1 cup liquid measuring cup, (2) 64 oz. wide mouth mason jars with lid, scissors, 2 dowel rods - (12” long and not more than ½” thick), (1) 5-gallon bucket, notebook, plastic bags to transport wet items, old bath towel, N95 mask, rubber gloves, and pen/pencil.

Material Fee $65 Includes: Dye auxiliaries (salt, citric acid, iron water, alum, vinegar), 3 varieties of dye - natural, synthetic, and Kool Aid, dried and fresh foliage, printed instructions, rubber bands, twine, fabric, comb top, and yarn.
