#301 Heidi Bukoski—A Shibori Ruana   Full Day Friday 9am-4pm   Pavilion North  $100

Skill level:  Beginner

Workshop Description:  Shibori is the Japanese art of stitching, binding and tying fabric to create designs. The fabric is then dyed, traditionally with indigo, to produce the desired patterns. Each participant will start with a plain white ruana, a wrap that is easy to wear, with lots of style. You will create your own design and draw it on your piece. You may choose to do geometric patterns, or interpret a favorite animal or plants. Then you will use a variety of shibori stitches to execute the details. After tying all your stitching, you will dip it in an indigo dye bath. The instructor will have many examples to spur your creativity and work with you to determine the most appropriate stitches to use.

Students should bring:  Rubber gloves, small, sharp scissors or a seam ripper, reading glasses if you use them.
