Skill level:  Beginner

Workshop Description:  Kumihimo is an ancient Japanese technique used for everything from Samurai armor to fine jewelry. In this class we will construct a flat Kumihimo braid, using eight pieces of wire. We will weave in beads as we go. To finish your bracelet you will learn to make a hook and loop clasp from wire. Participants will use copper wire. You will have a variety of glass and gemstone beads to choose from so that each bracelet reflects the maker's preferences.

Students should bring: Jewelry pliers if you have them. Reading glasses if you use them

Homework:  None

Material Fee:  $20 for Kumihimo plate, wire, beads, cones and written directions
