Workshop Description: Have you wanted to get learn how to chain ply or become more proficient in your chain/Navajo plying techniques? This is the perfect class to learn, or brush up on your chain plying skills. We’ll go over the benefits and drawbacks of chain plying, what it’s best used for, and when to use this plying technique. This class is open to all spinners who are already able to spin a consistent single and know the basics of how to ply.
Students should bring: Students should come prepared with their own spinning wheel, at least one bobbin of spun singles and two additional empty bobbins, along with a lazy Kate and items to care for their wheel (oil and maintenance kit). Wheels must be in good working order, ready to use, and students should have a basic understanding of how their specific wheel works.
Homework: Students should come with one bobbin of already spun single.
Material Fee $15 Includes 2-3oz of prepared spinning fiber (we’ll all be spinning the same fiber to keep everything consistent), WPI tool, and a resource guide filled with handouts, information, tips, and tricks. Additional supplies may be available for purchase at the end of class.
