#301 Joan Sheridan — Knit to Fit Full day Friday 9am-4pm Bldg 10 South $100
Skill level: All levels welcome
Workshop Description: The idea of knitting a sweater is daunting to some. This class explains what is important for you to know -- how to match your body to a pattern or a pattern to your body. Among the issues that will be discussed are gauge, short rows, adjusting patterns and more. Yes, there is math involved, but it will be explained in an understandable way. By the end of the class you will have a "map" of your body that will set you on the path to knitting a sweater that actually fits! This class is designed for any level of knitter that has never knit a sweater or who thinks their sweater knitting could be improved.
Students should bring: Calculator, pencil and eraser, a small ball of smooth, light colored, worsted weight wool yarn with US 7 needles, ruler, two t-pins
Homework: Knit a gauge swatch in stockinette stitch using smooth, light colored, worsted weight wool and US 7 needles. Cast on 30 stitches and knit until square. Bind off loosely and wet block without over stretching. Leave on blocking board for three to five days.
